MANILA, Philippine — Some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry threw their support for Liza Soberano and other women who had been “warned” by a senior military official of the repercussions they may face should they still continue to support women’s group Gabriela.
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Southern Luzon Command chief Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. previously urged Soberano and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray to withdraw their support for Gabriela, and told them not to follow the path of Angel Locsin’s sister Ella Colmenares, who he alleged “took in the underground” is now part of the New People’s Army.
Singer Bituin Escalante took to Twitter to show her disgust and called Parlade a “fascist pig.”

This is not the first time the singer has chided Parlade over alleged “red-tagging.”
Other celebrities who showed support for Soberano was Callalily frontman Kean Cipriano.
“I stand with @lizasoberano and all the women who speak up for their rights. Women who speak up for what is right,” Cipriano said in an Instagram post on Thursday.
Jasmine Curtis-Smith vocalized her support for Soberano, Gray, Locsin and Gabriela.

For producer and talent manager Noel Ferrer, he could not understand why Soberano, Gray and Locsin are being red-tagged, while Overseas Workers Welfare Administration deputy administrator Mocha Uson was seen as a “role model.”
Comedian John Lapus was one of the many celebs who said #NotoRedTagging. And he did it in his own comedic way — by dressing up as Dimples Romana’s character Daniela in “Kadenang Ginto” complete with a red dress, red suitcase and even wearing red lipstick.
