Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson surprised one of his fans with bottles of tequila to celebrate her 101st birthday.
The actor spoke about the surprise on his Instagram on Oct. 18 alongside a photo of Marie Grover, whom he fondly called Grandma Grover, holding his presents.
“HAPPY BEAUTIFUL 101 BIRTHDAY to Grandma Grover! Good to see you received my gift of @teremana bottles and the card I wrote you!” he said. Johnson founded and owns the company that produces the tequila.
“Remember to SIP the Mana, grandma and it’s not time to do shots,” he said in jest.
He then wished her the “happiest of birthdays” once more while describing her life as “amazing and blessed.”
This is not the first time Johnson has surprised Grover on her birthday. He first learned about the elderly woman back in October 2019 when businesswoman Jamie Klingler tweeted about Grover being a huge fan of the actor.
She stated that she was trying to get Johnson to greet Grover, her best friend’s mother, on her 100th birthday and that a “friend of a friend” was already in touch with the actor.
“She will lose her mind. When we were in high school (25 years ago) she would wear a rock sweat shirt and tell us how handsome he is,” Klingler explained.
Johnson eventually noticed her post and quickly offered his help.
“What?? First I’m hearing of this! Who’s turning 100? Beautiful age!” he said. “What do you need, Jamie?”

Days later, Klingler posted a video of Johnson greeting Grover during her birthday last year. She also included a short clip of Grover reacting to the surprise.
“What an amazing life,” he said after singing “Happy Birthday.”
“Now you can eat cake, you can get drunk, and you can have the best time. Party hard!” the actor joked. “I’m sending you so much love, muah! Happy birthday!”
Love seeing this. Happy 100th Grandma Grover! I’m honored you’re a fan and grateful you were born! Much love, Rock.
(wish my grandma was still around, but stuff like this is always the best part of fame) #phillystrong 💝 https://t.co/EvuKAbuULT— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) October 2, 2019
Upon watching the video, Johnson said that he loved seeing it and was honored that Grover is one of his fans. He also stated that while he wished his own grandmother was still alive, “stuff like this is always the best part of fame.” /ra
