Actress and dancer Regine Tolentino said she felt she was at her “ugliest” right after giving birth to her third daughter in March. But she had pushed herself to get back into shape by getting inspiration from her idol, JLo.

American singer-dancer Jennifer Lopez has two kids of her own. Regine has three—Reigen, Reign and Rosy.

“I felt so disgusted with myself because I sort of let go and enjoyed my last pregnancy,” the 40-year-old Regine said. “After giving birth via C-section, I felt so lethargic. I was not able to move around. I did nothing and just held my child. Getting up wasn’t easy. I really had to force myself to get out of bed, to move, to dress up and take care of myself.”

Regine said she started watching videos featuring JLo, because “I love how sexy, positive and vibrant she is. Dancing helped me to slim down. Even though they were too tight, I would wear old fitness outfits to remind me of my weight goal.”

Regine believes that she owes it to her kids “to look good, and not so losyang. They’re not used to seeing me like this. I started dieting. I then cooked healthy dishes in the house. I stepped out of my pambahay, and started walking, jogging, and cleaning the house with the girls.”

She returned to work recently. “I now put makeup on and make an effort to look good. This isn’t only for my family and for work, but also for myself. It’s a small effort, but it goes a long way because it keeps me excited about life. Also part of this is taking supplements to keep me healthy, especially now that we’re all still too worried to go out of the house.”—Marinel Cruz INQ
