Chrissy Teigen and John Legend lost their third child after suffering from pregnancy complications.
Teigen revealed their loss on her Instagram page today, Oct. 1 alongside black-and-white photos of them in a hospital.
“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” she said.
“We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions,” the model added. “It just wasn’t enough.”
Teigen then noted that she and Legend do not name their children “until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital.”
“But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack,” she stated. “So he will always be Jack to us.”
Despite the loss, Teigen assured that Jack will always be part of their family, which he “worked so hard” to be a part of.
“To our Jack – I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive,” she said. “We will always love you.”
Teigen later thanked those who supported her throughout her pregnancy and expressed her gratitude for her two children, Luna and Miles.
“But [every day] can’t be full of sunshine,” she pointed out. “On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it.”
Teigen and Legend announced they were expecting their third baby last August.
The couple shared the good news through the music video for Legend’s song “Wild”, where Teigen showed her baby bump at the time. They tied the knot in 2013. JB
