A Miss Universe Philippines candidate announced that she tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and is now in isolation.

Sorsogon beauty queen Maria Isabela Galeria revealed the results of her COVID-19 test yesterday, Sept. 27 via Instagram.

“This news breaks my heart deeply and I apologize if ever I put you at risk,” she said, sharing a photo of a quarantine facility.

“We followed and did all the safety precautions to safeguard from the infection, however it still found us,” she lamented.

“I have spoken with those that I saw recently. My team, my MUP sisters and those I had close contact with in Manila all tested [negative].”

She appealed too that whoever had close contact with her inform their city or municipal health officers. “Hoping that I did not pass on to you the virus. I am truly, deeply sorry,” she said.

Miss Universe Philippines 2020 will be held on Oct. 25 after being postponed twice due to the coronavirus pandemic. The winner will represent the country in Miss Universe 2020. JB
