Liza Soberano to file complaint vs another netizen for data privacy breach
MANILA, Philippines — After filing an e-libel complaint against an internet service provider employee over a rape threat, actress Liza Soberano disclosed on Friday she is also eyeing to take legal action against another netizen for supposedly violating the data privacy law.
Soberano said she took action against an employee of an internet service provider over rape remarks first due to its “urgency.”
“There are actually two different people. And we will be doing something about the data privacy violation as well,” she said in an interview over ABS-CBN News Channel.
“It’s just that I had to take action on this other matter first because there’s more of an urgency for it, for me,” she added.
Soberano did not elaborate on the other netizen’s supposed data privacy violation.
The actress’ legal counsel Atty. Juanito Lim Jr. said they will seek assistance from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to further verify the internet service provider employee and netizen’s identities.

But we are also considering other measures like probably tapping the assistance of NBI, the PNP for the purpose of ascertaining their identities,” Lim said in the same interview.

Previously, Soberano aired her frustration against internet provider Converge for being unresponsive to her queries regarding their internet speed.
“Wala tayong magagawa, wala nang trabaho, kaya di bale ng masira ang image, magkapera lang. Sarap ipa-rape sa mga… ewan!” the employee allegedly wrote in a Facebook threat as seen in several screenshots posted on various social media platforms.
(We cannot do anything. She doesn’t have a job. That’s why she doesn’t care if her image will be damaged, just so she can have money. She should be raped by… I don’t know!)
The company has vowed to take disciplinary measures against the employee.
