Liza Soberano files complaints vs internet provider employee over rape remarks

MANILA, Philippines — Liza Soberano on Thursday filed a complaint against an internet provider employee who posted a rape threat against the actress on social media.

In a text message to INQUIRER.net, Soberano’s legal counsel Atty. Jun Lim said that the actress personally went to the Office of the City Prosecutor of Quezon City to file the complaint.

“We confirm the filing of complaint for e-libel, grave threats and unjust vexation,” Lim said.

It was on Sunday that Soberano said on Twitter that she will not let the employee’s words slide after the latter made lewd remarks online.

“Wala tayong magagawa, wala ng trabaho, kaya di bale ng masira ang image, magkapera lang. Sarap ipa-rape sa mga… ewan!” the employee supposedly wrote on Facebook as seen in several screenshots circulating online.

(We cannot do anything. She doesn’t have a job. That’s why she doesn’t care if her image will be damaged, just so she can have money. She should be raped by… I don’t know!)

Internet provider Converge has since issued a statement, promising that it will take disciplinary measures against the employee.

Soberano previously aired her frustration, saying that she was unhappy with Coverge’s services as the provider was not taking her calls regarding her internet speed.

And as Soberano’s complaint went viral online, PLDT, another internet provider, came to the actress’ rescue by providing her with fast internet.
