WATCH: ‘Gaya sa Pelikula’ trailer gives glimpse of queer romance
Upcoming Boys’ Love (BL) series “Gaya sa Pelikula” did not hold back the kilig in its trailer released on Friday, Sept. 18 via YouTube.
The online series revolves around cash-strapped architecture student Karl (Paolo Pangilinan) who makes a deal to live with a housemate Vlad (Ian Pangilinan) to cut on costs but gets more than what he bargained for.
Audiences were given a preview on the challenges the college students face while living together — and it is more than just about chores. Romantic moments are teased, from the two slow dancing to near-kisses.
The trailer concludes with Karl uttering “I am valid,” which appears to be in line with the series’ promise to be “a love letter to the community, freely presenting queer love, all its feelings, all its possibilities, all the kilig we also dream of.”
“Gaya sa Pelikula” was created by spoken word artist and actor Juan Miguel Severo and is directed by JP Habac (“I’m Drunk, I Love You”). It premieres on Sept. 25 on the Globe Studios YouTube channel.
