Former APO Hiking Society members Jim Paredes and Boboy Garovillo reunited virtually to compose a new song called “Quarantine Baby.”
Paredes released the song and its music video on his YouTube page on Sept. 16. The fresh track highlights the struggle couples face amid the quarantine measures imposed during to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The video shows the two singers performing the duet from the safety of their homes. It also features clips of a couple interacting with each other before and during the quarantine.
“Quarantine baby / My special lady / Habang social media nalang ba tayo?” Paredes sings as the video shows a couple speaking via video call.
Paredes and Garovillo also sing about how the quarantine measures have extended from a few weeks to months.
Paredes wrote the tune’s lyrics, while Marlon Barnuevo made the musical arrangement and Sammy Samaniego edited the music video.
APO Hiking Society is a popular Filipino musical group founded back in 1969. It was composed of Paredes, Garovillo and 13 other artists such as Danny Javier, John Paul Micayabas and Lito de Joya.
The group eventually retired in 2010, although Paredes and Garovillo still remain active in show biz. Throughout their career, the APO Hiking Society created over 22 albums with popular hits such as “Panalangin,” “Batang-Bata Ka pa,” and Doo Bidoo.” /ra
