YouTube stars Cong, RogerRaker and fellow vloggers held “content wars” to pay tribute to the late Emman Nimedez and raise funds for his family, especially his father, Daddy Louie.
Cong (real name: Lincoln Velasquez), along with other members of Team Payaman and fellow YouTubers, created two short films with the theme “Pambansang Oppa” in honor of Nimedez, who was famously given the title for his famous videos inspired by Korean drama.
The vloggers were split into two teams, which were simply called Team A and Team B. Their entries were uploaded via Cong’s Youtube channel, Cong TV, last night, Aug. 31.
Team A, whose entry was titled “SKYLINE,” was composed of Cong, RogerRaker (real name: Pau Sepagan), Junnie Boy (real name: Marlon Velasquez), Lee Sepagan, Beigh Sunga, Josh Pint, Bok, Vien Iligan, Pat Velasquez and Angel Amaqui.
The said video raked in 1 million views in only 1 hour, Cong shared via Facebook also yesterday. He also reiterated to fans that all the money raised from the films will be donated to Nimedez’s father.
“1M views sa loob ng isang oras! Maraming salamat sa lahat ng sumusuporta sa #TeamPayaman. Lahat po ng kikitain ng video na to ay mapupunta kay Daddy Louie!” he said.
(1 million views in 1 hour! Thank you very much to the supporters of Team Payaman. All the money raised from this video will go to Daddy Louie!)
Team B’s entry was, meanwhile, called “Pop Love.” The team was composed of Titus Cee, Kevin Hermosada, Josh Drake, Yow, Jai Asuncion, Agassi Ching, Bods, Yunisky Mendoza, Mentot, Dudut, Peachy Santos and Tita Krissy Achino.
Other than drawing inspiration from Korean television shows, both short films also featured several nods to Nimedez by including some of his clips on the video and by even mirroring some of his work.
Team Payaman has been very active in helping Nimedez and his family in the late vlogger’s battle against cancer. They have also done several fundraisers for Nimedez through livestreams, prior to the content wars.
Nimedez was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a type of blood cancer, last May. He passed away on Aug. 16. /ra
