Kathryn Bernardo, Nadine Lustre, Janine Gutierrez vie for Best Actress in Gawad Urian 2020

Kathryn Bernardo, Nadine Lustre, Janine Gutierrez and Alden Richards are just some of the brightest stars nominated in several categories in the 43rd Gawad Urian this year.

Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino released the full list of nominees for the sought-after Gawad Urian Awards via Facebook today, Aug. 27. The awards event is scheduled this October.

The list includes the nominees for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Music and Best Sound.

FEATURED STORIES

The action film “Babae at Baril”, starring Gutierrez and JC Santos, is considered to be one of the top contenders with nine nominations across the 12 categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Editing, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Actress, and more.

Both Bernardo and her “Hello, Love, Goodbye” co-star Richards are nominated for the Best Actress and Best Actor category, while Maricel Laxa was nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

Lustre’s nomination for “Ulan” this year marks her second time on the Best Actress nominees list. She won the award in 2019 for her performance in “Never Not Love You”.

The Best Supporting Actress category is also filled with veteran stars including Cherie Gil for “Kaputol”, Yayo Aguila for “Metamorphosis” and Meryll Soriano for “John Denver Trending”.

After “Babae at Baril”, the films “Cleaners”, “Edward” and “Kalel, 15” have eight nominations each — all of them are likewise listed on the Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Picture categories.
