Opportunities await Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil despite the shutdown of their home network ABS-CBN and the coronavirus pandemic that continues to plague the country.
Soberano’s manager Ogie Diaz gave an update on the reel-to-real couple in his YouTube channel on Saturday, Aug. 15.
He said that other networks have “expressed interest” in the love team, namely GMA and TV5, as well as entertainment company Viva. However, Diaz stressed that they were still staying with ABS-CBN.
“This is a good problem for us,” he said.
“Pero siyempre, priority namin muna ABS-CBN. ‘Pag wala talagang maibigay ang ABS-CBN, at inallow naman sila na lumipad sa ibang bakuran, ay doon pa lang kami mag-coconsider.”
(But of course, our priority first is ABS-CBN. If ABS-CBN cannot give anything and they allow us to go elsewhere, that is the only time when we will consider.)
He said that ABS-CBN was not going to let go of the two, and that he was assured by the media giant’s chief operating officer of broadcast, Cory Vidanes, that they will do what they can to keep the love teams.
“May ginagawa sila para maitawid ang mga love teams na pinoprotektahan nila, sinesecure nila,” Diaz said.
(They are doing things for the love teams that they are protecting, that they are securing, so they could get by.)
In fact, as per Diaz, LizQuen received a pitch from Star Cinema and are willing to do the project — as long as the curve flattens for coronavirus cases in the country.
“Mga tiyan natin baka mauna pa maflatten,” quipped Diaz. (Our stomachs will probably flatten first.)
The love team’s teleserye “Make It with You” was among the shows canceled after the network’s shutdown.
Soberano said in June that among the reasons behind the cancellation was risks to her health, as well as on others, if taping resumed, given the country’s COVID-19 situation. JB
