Steve Dailisan gets new airline work after being laid off as pilot

After dealing with the heartbreak of being laid off, reporter-turned-pilot Steve Dailisan is taking off with a new airline.

Dailisan revealed last July that due to the coronavirus pandemic, he was axed as a pilot in Cebu Pacific just as he was starting his flying career.

“I will have to rest my golden wings for a while to chart a new destination elsewhere,” he said at the time.

Remaining optimistic despite the setback, he stated on Facebook yesterday, Aug. 16, that he has found new beginnings in AirAsia where he will be managing its public affairs office.

Dailisan posted photos of himself in an AirAsia jacket, as well as one in a suit, as he proudly made his announcement.

“A few months ago, I thought it was the end of my much loved aviation career. Tears were shed and so the vision turned blurry,” he said.

He considered “going back to broadcast journalism, government service and academe” after the layoff until  “an opportunity came to practice my corporate communication skills.”

He assured others who were struggling with job loss during the pandemic to keep their heads high.

“And for everyone who lost their dream job, their nurtured businesses, their family member or anything precious during this difficult time, just hang in there! You will definitely find your way back! PRAY and BELIEVE that a new opportunity awaits,” he said.

Dailisan was previously a news reporter and documentarist on GMA for over a decade. He became a licensed pilot in April 2019. JB
