Gretchen Ho will once again be giving away bicycles to deserving people after the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) is lifted in Metro Manila.
The TV host and reporter is looking for 50 beneficiaries to apply for the said giveaway under her Woman-in-Action initiative, noting that “a bike can spell the difference between keeping a livelihood or not.”
Those who want to apply “need to JUSTIFY WHY YOU ARE DESERVING, and you need to show proof when my team contacts you,” Ho, also a former collegiate volleyball player, said on Instagram yesterday, Aug. 13.
“You may also nominate someone lalo na kung wala silang (especially if they do not have) internet but we’ll go through the same verification process. We’ll be giving these away after MECQ,” she added.
Ho’s post came with several photos of the different kinds of bike, along with a video of her even trying one out.
“This took quite some time because we had them shipped from abroad, but I’ve used them and both mountain & folding bikes are of good quality,” she assured people who are interested.
Ho is also encouraging other people to donate cash for the said initiative so they can provide bikes to more individuals in need.
“DONATE A BIKE, SAVE A JOB,” Ho noted. “If you want to be part of this project, you may CONTRIBUTE CASH DONATIONS, just send me a message via social media or email at gretchen@womaninaction.ph.”
“Let’s empower people to continue fighting for their dreams by giving them a ride!” she emphasized.
During the last World Bike Day, June 3, Ho gave away two bikes to two “no work, no pay” employees to help them get to work amid the pandemic-induced lockdown. /ra
