Bindi Irwin pregnant with first child: ‘Baby Wildlife Warrior due 2021’

Bindi Irwin and her husband, Chandler Powell, revealed yesterday, Aug. 11, that they are expecting their first child.

Bindi is the 22-year-old daughter of late Australian conservationist Steve Irwin and is herself active in running conservation facility Australia Zoo with her family.

The couple’s announcement on social media comes five months after they wed in the gardens of the zoo in Queensland.

“Baby Wildlife Warrior due 2021,” Bindi said, stating that she is in her first trimester. “We couldn’t wait to share the news as this beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives.”

Powell, an American wakeboarder, shared the excitement.

“Becoming a dad is the highlight of my life,” he said, and assured his wife, “Bee, you’re going to be the most amazing mother.”

Bindi’s mother, Terri Irwin, said in a heartfelt message via Twitter: “While I wish that Steve was here to share this beautiful moment, I know that he would be so proud.”

Steve and Terri made waves worldwide through the wildlife TV series “The Crocodile Hunter.” He tragically died in 2006 due to a stingray injury.

His wife and two kids, Bindi and Robert, have continued to operate the zoo and appear in the reality TV series “Crikey! It’s the Irwins.”  /ra
