The nine-piece folk-pop band Ben&Ben trended in South Korea as it topped the charts of a local music streaming site.

The group learned of its feat after a page dedicated to YG artists such as Blackpink posted a screenshot of the Melon Realtime Search Chart on Twitter yesterday, July 22. Along with topping the said chart, it also earned the second, third, sixth and seventh spots with its 2017 hit “Leaves.”

Following YG Charts’ post, the band expressed surprise over the news on its Facebook account on the same day.

“[W]oah this is crazy. [W]e’re trending in [S]outh [K]orea,” Ben&Ben said.

Prior to trending in the said country, two artists from separate K-pop groups mentioned the band earlier this week. Mark Lee of NCT played Ben&Ben’s “Leaves” while talking with his fans during a livestream.

The band then thanked the K-pop star via Twitter for listening to their tune while sharing a clip from his livestream.

Meanwhile, Young K from the group Day6 complimented the band for the same song. He added that it was “amazing” and he was “surprised” after hearing the tune.

Aside from getting recognized by its fans in South Korea, Ben&Ben also released its first-ever international single titled “Doors” last April.  /ra
