WATCH: Judy Ann Santos outtake shows her in tears saying ‘isang mahigpit na yakap, Kapamilya’

While shooting the extro for her inspirational show, Judy Ann Santos was caught in a moment of grief, as she could not hold back her tears in what was deemed as a reaction to the recent retrenchment of ABS-CBN workers due to the network shutdown.
ABS-CBN writer Danica Domingo shared the takes of Santos’ spiels for “Paano Kita Mapasasalamatan” on Facebook yesterday, stating that these were shot on the same day that the retrenchment of workers was announced.

The show features stories of how kindness uplifts people, and her closing spiel seemed to hit home for her amid the crisis ABS-CBN is facing.
“Gaano mang kahirap at gaano man kadilim ang pinagdadaanan natin ngayon, kapit lang,” she said. “‘Wag tayong mawalan ng panananampalataya dahil darating at darating ang liwanag. At pagdating noon, ‘yon ang dapat nating ipagpasalamat.”
“Ako po si Judy Ann Santos Agoncillo. Hanggang sa susunod. Maraming salamat at isang mahigpit na mahigpit na mahigpit na yakap mga Kapamilya,” she said, her voice breaking.
An outtake featured later on in the credits showed Santos delivering the same spiel, though visibly more emotional. As she said “isang mahigpit na yakap,” she tried to stifle her sobs and could not continue her message.
The takes could be seen starting from the 45:50 mark of the video below.
Santos became a household name through the network, with her breakout role in the hit TV soap opera “Mara Clara” which first aired in 1992.
The superstar made a tribute to ABS-CBN yesterday, sharing a picture on Instagram of red, green and blue candles arranged into a heart shape.

“Ang bawat storya… may simula… may gitna o tinatawag naming highlight ng pelikula o teleserye… at may katapusan…” she wrote.
“May bida, may kontrabida at meron ding bida-kontrabida… hindi dito magtatapos ang storya namin… simula pa lang ito.. #labankapamilya #SONAgkaisa.”
