After he was accused of pressuring others, Enchong Dee clarified that he does not mean to shade fellow celebrities when he urges them to speak up on the ABS-CBN franchise denial.
Instagram user @marjlanuza said that while she is for ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal and admires Dee’s bravery, it is wrong for the actor to “pressure all the artists to be as vocal as [he].”
“Ifocus niyo sa gobyerno ang pagkalampag (Focus your protests on the government), [instead] of shading other artists for [not] being as vocal as you,” the netizen stressed.
In response, Dee emphasized that he asks fellow entertainers to speak up not for themselves, but for other showbiz workers who need the voice of celebrities amid ABS-CBN’s plight.
“We have to start thinking beyond ourselves, our voice is not for us but for others who have nothing, those who live paycheck to paycheck,” Dee answered the netizen in a screenshot he shared on Twitter on July 15.
“I am not shading, I am calling for their support. I can go on with my life without this job but I couldn’t speak for the utility personnel, the wardrobe, the makeup artists, the staff, the crew, which ALL artists get to work with [every day],” he added.

Dee then reiterated that he calls for their support “because I know that my colleagues have enough influence to make things right.”
“Again, this is beyond oneself. Thanks,” he added.
Dee also said on his tweet’s caption: “At marami pang iba na kasamahan ko sa trabaho. Marami sila na kailangan ng boses ng mga kapwa ko artista.”
(And many more of my colleagues at work. There are many of them that need the voice of my fellow artists.)
Dee, who has been one of the most vocal celebrities when it comes to social and political issues, recently slammed Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque after he told the public to “move on” following ABS-CBN’s franchise denial. /ra
