MANILA, Philippines — Ogie Alcasid revealed on Friday that he initially tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after taking a rapid test.
But Alcasid, in a Facebook post on Friday, added that later swab tests showed that the results were negative for COVID-19.
“I know i have been a little inactive lately. The reason is i was in isolation,” the singer said as he explained why he has been inactive on social media lately.
Alcasid said that after the first rapid test taken in “ASAP” yielded a positive result, he took another test, which later showed a negative result.
As a “tie breaker,” the singer said he got a third test, which showed yet another positive result for the coronavirus.
“So protocol of HR is that I take the PCR swab and that I did last Monday,” he said.
“Got results today after 4 days and I am negative,” he then gladly shared the good news.
Alcasid added that he was asymptomatic the whole time.
The COVID-19 crisis, which was declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization, has infected 12.4 million worldwide, and has taken the lives of 558,091 people.
In the Philippines, there are now 52,914 people infected with COVID-19, of which 13,230 have recovered while 1,360 succumbed to the disease. [ac]
