Singer-songwriter Ebe Dancel warned fans of a Facebook page posing as him and asking for singing videos from Dancel’s fans to supposedly promote OPM.

Dancel via his social media accounts earlier today, July 4, noted that he only has one public Facebook account, which is currently verified by the social media platform.

“May nagpadala sa akin nito. Mga kaibigan, ito lang ang public account ko. Hindi ako humihingi ng kanta kahit kanino man. Kung sino ka man, God bless you,” the OPM legend said.

(Someone sent this to me. Friends, this is my only public account. I am not asking for songs from anyone. Whoever you are, God bless you.)

“Mabuting gusto mong tumulong sa kapwa, pero mas mabuting gamitin mo ang sariling pangalan (at litrato) mo,” he added.

(It is good that you want to help others, but it will be much better if you use your own name and picture.)

Dancel also posted the warning on his official Instagram account, where he stressed, “Akin lang ang pangalan ko at ako lang ang pwedeng gumamit nito (My name is mine alone and only I can use it).”

The poser, named “Ebe Dancel” on Facebook and had the real singer’s photo as his profile picture, asked fans to send videos of them singing their original songs or covers, promising to share them on his page.

“Kung meron kayong video with your own original song or cover song.. kindly send to us via messenger and ipopost namin yandito mismo sa page,” the poser said in one post.

(If you have videos of your own original song or cover, kindly sent to us via messenger and we will post that in our page.)

“Naisip namin to dahil may mga talent na hindi man lang nabibigyan ng opportunity na mapakinggan ng mga tao. Kaya lets do this together. mabuhay ang OPM sa mga puso natin.. Lets Go!!” the fake account added.

(We realized that there are many talents out there that are not being given the opportunity to be heard. So let’s do this together. Long live OPM in our hearts. Let’s go!)

The said Facebook account is currently unsearchable on the said social media platform. It is unclear if it was deleted, deactivated or if the page has changed its name and photo.  /ra
