Kris Aquino will be giving away eight laptops to help students with their online classes amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“Lahat ng magulang ang hangarin mapagtapos sa pag-aaral, maging maganda ang kinabukasan, at maging masaya ang mga anak nila,” she stated on her Facebook page last Friday, June 26. (All parents want their children to finish their studies, have a bright future and be happy.)

She then explained that her decision to give laptops is her way of making good on her promise to her late dad, former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino. Kris told her dad last Father’s Day that she would do whatever she can to help Filipinos rise again.

Kris also showed the confirmation of her orders for the gadgets, which could be delivered to her as early as tomorrow, June 29. The actress stressed how she wants to invest in the future of the Philippines through the laptops since many students are learning from home due to the health crisis.

Kris will be choosing which families will receive the laptops through a livestream on Wednesday, July 1 with the help of Cornerstone Entertainment Inc.

Aside from Kris, Heart Evangelista previously gave away 550 tablets to help less fortunate students access their online classes during the pandemic.

The Department of Education (DepEd) has postponed in-person classes until a vaccine for COVID-19 is developed. Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte said the government would distribute radios to students without access to the internet or television so they could resume their learning while staying at home.
