Jennylyn Mercado, Dennis Trillo and Nar Cabico channeled the American band Earth, Wind & Fire as they performed the group’s 1970s hit tune “Reasons.”
Cabico served as the lead vocalist of their rendition, as seen in Mercado’s vlog post on her YouTube channel on Monday, June 15. Trillo and Mercado joined him as backup singers while playing the drums and bass, respectively.
The clip featured the actors and the Filipino band 3rd Avenue performing from their homes amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The band’s members played the keyboard, saxophone and percussions, while musical director Adonis Tabanda headed the rendition’s musical arrangement.
Mercado later pointed out that their video was “super special” since Cabico joined them all the way from the United States.
The performance is part of Mercado and Trillo’s “CoLove” series, in which they cover songs of popular artists such as Barbra Streisand, Natalie Cole and Paul McCartney.
Along with the clips that are usually recorded from a studio, the couple previously surprised commuters taking the Manila Light Rail Transit (LRT) last August. At the time, they disguised themselves as persons with disabilities (PWD) while serenading passersby at the LRT Roosevelt station. /ra
