Iya Villania took on the role of a hairdresser to give her eldest son, Primo, a haircut at home amid the general community quarantine (GCQ).

Drew Arellano posted photos of the mother-and-son moment on his Instagram page yesterday, June 9.

“It’s that time of the month for the boys! Thanks, Mama Barbera!” he said, referring to the actress.

Little Primo could not help but smile as he posed for his father’s camera while Villania trimmed his hair using a clipper. The doting mother wore a sports bra and shorts while cutting Primo’s hair, showing off her growing baby bump.

The couple revealed last January that they are expecting their third child together through a vlog post on their YouTube page. While the pair is excited to welcome a new baby into their family, they have decided to wait until Villania’s delivery to find out the child’s gender. Along with Primo, Villania and Arellano have another son named Alonzo Leon.

Meanwhile, other celebrities have also learned how to cut their loved ones’ hair during the quarantine brought about by the spread of the coronavirus.

Jodi Sta. Maria trimmed her driver’s hair from the safety of her own home. Marian Rivera also chopped off Dingdong Dantes’ locks, while he gave their son Sixto a haircut for his first birthday last April.

As Metro Manila transitioned to GCQ on June 1, barbershops and salons were allowed to reopen on June 7. However, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque stressed that the establishments are to  operate at reduced capacity and offer only haircuts.

They are also required to provide disinfection mats at entrances, place visible floor markers and cover furniture with plastic, along with the usual quarantine measures such as the wearing of face masks.  /ra
