WATCH: UPeepz dance group represents PH in ‘World of Dance’
Filipino dance group UPeepz just qualified in the reality TV competition “World of Dance” in the United States.
UPeepz impressed the judges with its high energy and tight choreography while dancing to “Get Back” by Ludacris, as seen on NBC World of Dance’s YouTube channel last Wednesday, June 3.
The group made it to the next round of the competition after judges Ne-Yo and Derek Hough voted yes, and even if Jennifer Lopez voted for a callback, which is not a yes, but also not a no.
The dance group is making a comeback for the show’s fourth season after its varsity team, VPeepz, finished fourth place last season.
Hough said that the group has made a name for itself with the name “Peepz.” Lopez challenged UPeepz to surpass its predecessor.
“Right now, I’d say you are right about where they are, if not a tiny bit below,” Lopez said.
Ne-Yo agreed with Lopez and asked for “more energy” in their choreography. He also described the group’s routine as “super clean” and “super tight.”
Hough and Ne-Yo agreed that the group had what it takes to make it to the next round, while Lopez said that she wants to see what the group can still do.
After the celebration, Ne-Yo challenged the group to do better by stating that in the next round “there needs to be no question” if the group should go through or not.
UPeepz’s CEO, Chips Beltran, thanked the judges for always pushing for the group’s improvement via Facebook on the same day. He also expressed his gratitude to his teammates for always pushing harder.
“This routine was definitely one of the HARDEST to execute!” he said. “That was a burst.”
