MANILA, Philippines — Actress Kim Chiu on Wednesday decried as “fake news” a video of her supposedly dancing on Edsa, which was in a traffic jam.
According to the Kapamilya star, she did dance but it was in a parking lot of a gastropub.
In an Instagram post, Chiu called out those who were spreading false information, which suggested that she danced along to her viral song “Bawal Lumabas” during a gridlock along Metro Manila’s main thoroughfare.
“Thank you for supporting the shirt for a cause and sa nagpapakalat ng fake news na sa Edsa ako sumayaw, hello?!!! Okay ka lang??? Bakit ako sasayw sa gitna ng Edsa. Takot ko lang. DYOS KO. Please stop spreading FAKE NEWS,” Chiu said.
(Thank you for supporting the shirt for a cause and to those spreading fake news that I danced along Edsa, hello?! Are you okay? Why would I dance in the middle of Edsa. Only to my fear, my goodness! Please stop spreading fake news!)
She also tagged her friend, fellow actress Angelica Panganiban, who shared the video on her Instagram story on Monday.
“Moms @iamangelicap sa Edsa daw yung PARKING LOT ng tipsy pig?… kaya pa ba? Ikaw na nagdeliver ng merchandise, ikaw pa pagbibintangan ng fake news… hay…. life…… hindi po biro magbenta ng merch, first time kong ginawa to pero okay lang I know this is for a good cause. let’s spread love not hate,” she added.
(Moms Angelica Panganiban the parking lot of Tipsy Pig is at Edsa? Can you handle it? While you deliver merchandise, you also get accused of fake news. Life… selling merchandise is not a joke, this is the first time I did it but it is okay, I know it is for a good cause. Let’s spread love not hate.)
Chiu likewise reminded the public that the “enemy” now is COVID-19 and not other people.
INQUIRER.net has reached out to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) spokesperson Celine Pialago for her reaction on the viral post of a dancing Chiu but has yet to receive a response as of writing.
