Michael de Mesa celebrated his 60th birthday yesterday, May 24, in the safety of his home, while the metropolis is still under an enhanced community quarantine.
The actor posted a short clip of his simple “quarantine birthday” on his Instagram page on the same day.
Aside from the various dishes and pastries he received, de Mesa’s “Ang Probinsyano” co-stars such as Coco Martin and John Prats took time out to surprise him through a video call. The actor joked and noted that the call was indeed a surprise as he was not wearing a shirt when they made the call.
The thoughtful gesture was followed by greetings from his children and grandchildren, who each had their own messages for de Mesa.
De Mesa first showed a snippet of a video call with his fourth grandchild Beanie, who happily performed the “Baby Shark Dance” for her grandfather. His other grandkids, Catalina and Ruis, penned heartfelt messages for him on sheets of paper. He then exchanged sweet I love you’s with his fifth grandchild, Rocio, during another video call.
Meanwhile, his two sons Ryan and AJ Eigenmann dedicated Instagram posts for him, which featured de Mesa’s fit physique despite his age.
Along with Ryan and AJ, de Mesa is also the father of actor Geoff Eigenmann. De Mesa shares his three sons with his former wife Gina Alajar. JB
