Fashion designer Michael Cinco is lending his talents to crafting functional and stylish lab gowns for frontliners in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Dubai-based designer shared his creations — medical gowns with bold, clean lines — on Instagram Wednesday, May 20.

“This is not really an actual dress… It is just a plain protection lab gown creatively draped and styled on [a] mannequin to make it look like a high fashion dress for our amazing medical frontliners fighting for COVID-19 in UAE,” he explained.

“This is our own small way of serving the Dubai community and giving back gratitude to the UAE [government],” he added.

The designer to the stars said the effort was part of the #AThread4Cause project, an initiative of the Arab Fashion Council with Dubai Design District (D3) and the Dubai Health Authority.

D3 announced on May 17 that seven business partners, including Cinco, “have deployed over 50 tailors and pattern makers to produce the medically certified garments.”

The face masks and protection gowns made by the designers will be used by health care workers in the country. JB
