Labor of love in Nick’s touching tribute to front-liners
Nick Jonas’ latest single “Until We Meet Again” may be unabashedly mushy, but it’s served well by the singer’s heart-on-sleeve sincerity and a timely message, delivered with added visual relish in the intimate and gorgeously shot music video accompanying the song. The 27-year-old singer-actor may just have successfully reunited with the Jonas Brothers, but Nick, who married Miss World 2000 Priyanka Chopra in December, has cleverly used his high-profile platform in 18th season of the talent search “The Voice” to put his popularity to good use.
The song, Nick’s first solo release since 2018’s “Right Now,” is helping raise funds for Feeding America, a nonprofit network of more than 200 food banks that feed approximately 50 million people largely relying on shelters and soup kitchens for their daily sustenance.
With a finger-snapping patter framing its smooth and soothing melody, “Until We Meet Again” plays out like a clarion call that pays reassuring tribute to front-liners. He assures them that their hard work and efforts don’t go unappreciated. It’s a message that reflects popular public sentiment these days that sees any form of kindness or assistance extended to the beleaguered work force that’s fighting the virus as something that never gets old or tiring.
It isn’t really the song’s intention to offer false hopes and barren promises. In fact, Nick even stresses: No one said faith is something to borrow/ Love is no place for living in that sorrow/ Leave it to kings and no one but follow.
There’s likewise a world-weary tone of uncertainty as he expresses longing for friends he worries about and loved ones he can’t spend time with: Wish I could reach you through a distance/ Show you my heart and all that I’m feeling/ Lord, I can’t preach, but I know something’s missing/ Nowhere to fight back to the beginning.

After a gentle prodding, out popped proud Priyanka, who gifted her hubby with a sweet smooch and a big smile for all the world to see. If that isn’t labor of love, we don’t know what is.
