Ooops! Willie Revillame mistakenly cursed on air by wary contest winner

MANILA, Philippines — “Wowowin” host Willie Revillame received a major shock on live TV after one of the winners of a game segment on the other end of the phone line inadvertently cursed him.
During Monday’s episode of the show, Willie randomly picked and dialled the number of the “Tutok to Win” segment winner sponsored by an online shopping platform.
When the winner answered the call, Willie, without identifying himself, zealously asked her to thank the contest sponsors.
To his surprise, the winner instead blurted out G*go!”
“Uy, huwag niyo ako murahin. Si Willie Revillame ito (Don’t curse me. This is Willie Revillame),” the host said.
The winner, after realizing the on-air the gaffe, profusely apologized to Willie and explained that she thought she was being fooled or deceived by pranksters.
“Sorry po talaga, Kuya Wil! Sorry po talaga. Akala ko po talaga pinagti-tripan niyo ako. Sorry po,” the winner who introduced herself as Alexis said.
(I’m sorry, I’m really sorry. I thought you were making fun of me. I’m sorry.)
“Alam mo kung ano sinabi mo? Nadinig ko. Sasabihin ko ulit. Isisigaw ko sa mundo, sabi mo, ‘Gwapo!’” Willie said.
(Do you know what you said? I heard it. I will say it again and tell it to the world. You said, ‘Handsome!’)
The startled winner also got an additional P5,000, on top of the original P10,000.
“Ito po ay babala. Hindi kapag minura niyo ako ay dadagdagan ko kayo! Naguwapuhan lang po siya sa akin!” Revillame said, in jest.
(It doesn’t mean that if you curse me, you’ll get a bigger prize. She just thought I was handsome!)
