LOOK: Korina Sanchez to donate slippers, canned goods to families in Tondo
Korina Sanchez will be donating slippers and canned goods to the residents of Tondo in Manila, who are struggling amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“Tsinelas para sa (Slippers for) Tondo,” the journalist said in her Instagram post yesterday, May 18. She also posted a photo of herself with the donations.

Sanchez explained that she is helping remotely for now since she cannot be “on-ground” to distribute the items during these unprecedented times.
“I’ve not forgotten. I promised, I will deliver,” Sanchez said. “Kahit konti lang, may matutulungan parin kahit paano.”
(Even if it is just a little, [these] will still be able to help others.)
Article continues after this advertisementShe then recalled the situation of the residents of Tondo, citing how many have gotten sick, lost their jobs and have nothing to eat amid the spread of the coronavirus. In addition, fires also hit the district last month, leaving some of the families with no homes and belongings.

She then thanked her friends who sponsored the donations while emphasizing that “[s]ervice to others is the #BestLife.”
Sanchez is known for leading the “Isang Milyong Tsinelas” campaign, which aims to help restore the dignity of impoverished kids by providing them with slippers. Along with the said advocacy, the journalist also established the Philippine Animal Guardians for Humane Societies, a foundation that helps rescue and rehabilitate stray, neglected and/or abused animals. /ra
