MANILA, Philippines — To mark the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, actor Piolo Pascual on Tuesday encouraged the public to take climate action as he shared his commitment to protect the environment and conserve energy.
“This 50th anniversary of Earth Day, I am taking climate action by being aware of my environment and its needs, conserving energy, electricity, reducing carbon emission, not suing plastic, especially the single-use ones, buying only essential stuff to reduce damage to our natural resources, to practice zero-waste management starting with my household,” Pascual said in a video posted on Instagram on the eve of Earth Day 2020.
Pascual, a known environmental advocate, also pledged to plant more seeds “for trees and plants to grow around us,” noting that he will be “conscious of a new way of living that is in harmony with nature.”
“Our planet is in crisis. We demand a new way forward. This earth day 2020, let’s do all this to build a better future,” the actor said.
Pascual is among the country’s ambassadors for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), an international non-governmental organization dedicated to wildlife and nature conservation.
“Quintessential Filipino actor Piolo Pascual, known for his healthy lifestyle and participation in various environmental initiatives, promotes all project sites for forest protection and watershed management as a Forest and Water Conservation Steward,” WWF Philippines describes Pascual on their website.
