Rapper Eminem reached a new milestone in life as he marked 12 years of sobriety today, April 21.
“Clean dozen, in the books! I’m not afraid,” he declared on his Twitter page. He accompanied his post with a photo of a “sobriety coin” from the nonprofit organization Alcoholics Anonymous, as per Billboard on the same day.

The small token features the number 12 inside a triangle with the group’s legacies, “recovery,” “unity” and “service” on each of its sides. It also carries the organization’s motto: “One day at a time.”
Eminem started his journey towards sobriety in April 2008, after years of addiction to prescription pills Vicodin, Valium and Ambien. As per report, he also experienced a methadone overdose in 2007.
The year after he started committing to being sober, he released his sixth studio album called “Relapse”. Despite the title, the rapper has been consistent with his recovery and has released five albums after 2009.
