Singer and army reservist Ronnie Liang helped the Philippine Army man a COVID-19 checkpoint in Valenzuela City.

Liang assisted the military team deployed along McArthur Highway, as per his Instagram post last Saturday, April 18. Liang also followed precautions against the virus such as wearing goggles, gloves and face mask while he was on duty.

Liang helped monitor the temperature of individuals who passed through the checkpoint. Prior to joining the team in the said city, Liang also assisted the army in transporting health workers to hospitals last month amid the enhanced community quarantine.

The singer joined the Army Reserve in 2018. He was later promoted to second lieutenant last month after undergoing training at  Camp O’Donnell in Tarlac. Along with Liang, other celebrities such as Dingdong Dantes, Gerald Anderson and Matteo Guidicelli have also joined the army as reservists.

However, Liang told the Philippine Daily Inquirer last month that being a reservist is not the only way to help. He added that his fellow celebrities could “use their influence and fame to be of good example and to inspire people, especially the youth.”

“If possible, we can do fundraising projects in order to provide food and medicine. We can give supplies to medical workers and uniformed personnel,” Liang said. “We have to help each other.” JB
