MANILA, Philippines — Sylvia Sanchez and her husband Art Atayde, both coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients, are on the road to recovery.

DJ JhaiHo shared an update Wednesday, April 8, about the actress’s condition on “Rise and Shine Live,” a talk show on Facebook pages Rise Artists Studio and Star Cinema.

JhaiHo read aloud Sanchez’s text message: “Nagrerecover na kami pero may pneumonia pa, pero at least gumaganda ang lagay namin.” (We are recovering but we still have pneumonia, but at least our condition is improving.)

Sanchez has yet to give an update about her health, though her Facebook page said Tuesday, “Cleared lungs and in full recovery na po si Nanay Sylvia natin!” (Our Mommy Sylvia has cleared lungs and is in full recovery.)

The veteran actress announced on March 31 that she and her husband were positive for COVID-19, joining a few other artists in local show business and media personalities who have been afflicted with the disease, including fellow Kapamilya actress Iza Calzado, who just got discharged from the hospital.

“Art and I are getting better each day,” she said then. “Although this is slower than our usual recovery, we know that with prayers and strict compliance with our doctor’s orders, we will get there.”
