WATCH: Matthew McConaughey hosts online bingo for elderly in quarantine

Matthew McConaughey hosted an online bingo game for senior citizens who are in quarantine amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The actor held the session for residents of The Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living, an elderly care community in Texas, USA. The senior home uploaded a portion of the video call on its Facebook page last Monday, April 6.

McConaughey called out the numbers alongside his family including his wife Camila Alves, mother Kay and his children.

Along with the bingo game, the residents had the chance to talk with the actor about his family heritage and his favorite drink.

As the video call came to an end, the senior citizens thanked McConaughey with messages they wrote on sheets of green paper.

“During a time when we are all working to make lemonade out of lemons, we are so humbled that Matthew took the time to play our favorite game with us,” the senior home said. “As Matthew would say, let’s turn this red light into a green light!”

The show of gratitude refers to McConaughey’s call for unity in face of the pandemic, as seen in a clip he posted on Twitter last month. He said the current situation, which he described as a “red light,” will eventually turn green.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide has increased to over 1.2 million as of yesterday. According to the World Health Organization, more than 72,600 have already died.  /ra
