MANILA, Philippines – What started out as a humble donation of coffee by celebrity couple Joyce Pring and Juancho Triviño
to weary health workers has since encouraged them organize Relieve PH, which extends due assistance to frontliners battling the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Relieve PH has so far raised around P60,000 in donations, which Juancho said can purchase around 200 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE), 1,000 surgical gloves, 10 boxes of surgical masks and “a lot of alcohol,” among others.
“To the frontliners, we are going to help. Help is coming. We’ll do our best,” the television host said on Instagram Thursday.
Joyce, meanwhile, noted that they are focusing their donations on smaller hospitals that are in need of such supplies.
As of Thursday, Relieve PH has ordered 130 PPE, 215 face shields, 1000 face masks, 12 gallons of alcohol and 20 pairs of gloves that will be donated to frontliners at the Amang Rodriguez Hospital and Premier Medical Center, among others.
The couple also encouraged their followers who have money to spare to likewise help out as the country grapples with COVID-19.
“Apart from all of those donations, we are really trying to pray for these people and to encourage them and at the same time, we are trying to encourage our community to do what we can to help alleviate the situation,” Joyce said.
“Actually this video is not just to promote Relieve PH; it’s also to encourage you to help out in your own little way,” added Juancho.
He also noted that a week into planning and preparing, they were only able to raise P15,000.
On Wednesday, however, they found a supplier willing to help while a friend “out of nowhere donated cash,” which was then followed by several others.
As of Friday morning, the organization received the first batch PPE and gloves which are also set to be delivered to beneficiary hospitals today, according to Relief PH’s Facebook group.
Juancho can be seen helping pack the procured items, as seen in one post.
Juancho and Joyce are just some of the celebrities who have lent a hand amid the COVID-19 pandemic-induced enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
