MANILA, Philippines—Renowned writer Ricky Lee is adding two more batches of online workshops to accommodate more people amid the month-long enhanced community quarantine placed over Luzon and other areas in the country.

After receiving over 1,200 applications, the esteemed screenwriter and novelist decided to hold three batches of workshops with 65 people each instead of the intended one-batch workshop for 50 people.

“Maraming salamat sa mahigit 1,200 na nag-apply sa online scriptwriting workshop ko, na ang marami’y nanggaling pa sa iba’t ibang sulok hindi lang ng Pilipinas kundi ng mundo, na gaya ng Poland, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore at Japan,” Lee noted.

(Thank you very much to the more than 1,200 people who applied to my online scriptwriting workshop, a lot of whom came from different parts of, not only the Philippines, but the whole world, such as Poland Australia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Japan.)

The writer said 33 of his former filmmaker workshop participants helped in reading and filtering the entries, each of which was read by at least two people other than Lee.

“Sa mga hindi nakasama sa listahan sa ibaba, huwag kayo mag-alala, babalikan namin kayo in the future para ma-accommodate pa rin namin kayo,” the writer assured aspiring applicants.

(To those who did not make it to the list below, do not worry, we will get back to you in the future so we can still accommodate you.)

Lee’s Facebook post listed the name of the applicants who were chosen to take part in the workshop, which will be held in April, May and June. One batch will be held per month, with the first taking place on April 15, 22 and 29.
