Actor Menggie Cobarrubias tests positive for COVID-19 after death
MANILA, Philippines — Veteran actor Menggie Cobarrubias is confirmed to have had the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) when he passed away at 66.
The family only learned of the results on Monday, March 30, his son Gino Cobarrubias told INQUIRER.net.
The actor’s death was announced on March 26 by his wife Gina Jorge Cobarrubias. The family had been awaiting his COVID-19 test results when he died of pneumonia complications.
His last public message was posted on Facebook on the night of March 25: a simple “good bye.”
Cobarrubias, an esteemed theater and screen actor, was also known for his lively personality as an emcee.

Article continues after this advertisementHe bagged the Gawad Urian for best supporting actor in “Jaguar” by national artist Lino Brocka. He also won the best actor award at the QCinema International Film Festival in 2014 for “Mauban: Ang resiko.”
Among his last TV projects were the GMA series “Beautiful Justice” and ABS-CBN teleserye “Make It With You.”
