Angelica Panganiban admitted that she regrets endorsing President Rodrigo Duterte in the 2016 national elections after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) summoned Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto.

The NBI sent an “invitation letter” to Sotto after he had supposedly violated Republic Act 11469, or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.

Following reports regarding Sotto, Panganiban aired her opinion over the NBI’s decision on her Twitter page yesterday, April 1.

“Wala silang mapag initan. Si mayor vico talaga? Kung sino pa may natutulong at maayos na sistema, siya pa kakasuhan? HANEP!” she said.

“Eh nasan na yung nagkalat ng virus sa [Makati Medical Center]? So far kasi yun palang nagagawa niya. Ikalat ang virus. Mapapamura ka na lang pala talaga,” she added, referring to Sen. Aquino “Koko” Pimentel, who violated his home quarantine regulation and went to the said hospital despite being tested for COVID-19.

(They have no one to gang up on. Is it really Mayor Vico? The one who has helped and has an effective system, he is the one being charged? AMAZING! Eh where is the one who spread the virus in [Makati Medical Center]? Because so far, that is all he has done. Spread the virus. You have no choice but to curse.)

One netizen (@mylenejacob) then asked her: “Nagising ka na ba sa pagkahypnotize (Did you wake up from being hypnotized)?”

The Twitter user also accompanied her question with a screenshot of Panganiban’s old Instagram post in April 2016 where she declared that Duterte was her president.

“Yes. Nakakalungkot,” the actress replied. “Pero oo. Patawarin niyo ko.”

(Yes. It’s saddening. But yes. Forgive me.)

After her remark, her fans quickly expressed their support for the actress.

“Gising na siya (She’s awake already)! OMG. Welcome back! @angelica_114,” one @xxixicv said.

Panganiban shared the post, saying, “Sorry natagalan (it took a while).”

Her fellow actresses and good friends Bela Padilla and Kim Chiu have also expressed their disagreement with the NBI’s summons to Sotto.  /ra
