Bela Padilla gave a breakdown of how she utilized over P3 million that she gathered after launching a fundraiser on March 16.

In two days, the actress raised about P3.3 million, surpassing her P1 million target. She distributed food packages days after the crowdfunding effort was completed.

She clarified in an Instagram post on Wednesday how the money was used, stating that P1.37 million came from the GoGetFunding page and P2 million from an unnamed donor.

She said the money from the GoGetFunding page had yet to be released by PayPal, while the P2 million from the donor had not yet arrived, though she was expecting it next week.

“But the food I bought for the two days of donations was worth around 2.5M,” she said.

P1.5 million of canned goods and rice went to church-based nonprofit Caritas Manila, which has been facilitating donations to the poor and elderly.

The other P1 million was spent on “groceries and other goods” for two groups, namely persons with disability (PWDs) in Quezon City and people on the streets of Pasay, Manila and Makati. She did the distributions herself for the latter group along with the Philippine Army.

“When the 2 million comes in finally hopefully next week, I will take my 1 million back and use 1 million for one more food drive,” she assured.

“I won’t reply to anybody about this anymore after this post,” she said about queries on how the funds were spent.

“There are more people who need help, and I will focus my energy only to them or myself.”

Padilla made the fundraising initiative after seeking help online on how she could assist street vendors affected by the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
