As she lends a hand to the local government of Puerto Galera, Kris Aquino called for others who are also “blessed financially” to help out too as the world faces the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Queen of All Media told her fans that she donated 25 cavans of rice not to show off, but to encourage others to donate as well, as per her Instagram post earlier today, March 24.
“This is the time na yung mas na bless financially, sana gumawa ng paraan na tulungan ang mga mas nangangailangan sa abot ng makakaya… magdamayan tayo ngayon dahil LABAN nating lahat ang #covid_19,” Aquino said.
(This is the time for those who are financially blessed to make a way to help people in need as best as they can. We should help each other because the fight against COVID-19 is everyone’s battle.)
“Hindi tama na ang mga kapwa Pinoy ay magutom sa panahon ng lockdown dahil yung daily wage earners hindi makapagtrabaho,” she stressed.
(It is not right for our fellow Filipinos to starve during lockdown just because daily wage earners cannot work.)
Puerto Galera’s LGU will donate the rice to tricycle drivers, as seen on the screenshot of Aquino’s conversation with who appears to be the municipality’s mayor, Rocky Ilagan.
The actress said she was actually supposed to donate 100 sacks of rice but was unable to do so because she could not withdraw a huge amount of money, there being no nearby banks.
Aquino, along with sons Bimby and Josh, is currently staying at “Wowowin” host Willie Revillame’s resort in Puerto Galera as Luzon is placed under a month-long enhanced community quarantine. Land, domestic air and domestic sea travel to and from Metro Manila are suspended from March 15 to April 14. JB
