Matteo Guidicelli and Kean Cipriano helped raise over P4 million for families affected by the COVID-19 enhanced community quarantine, yesterday, March 22.

The two artists collected the amount through an online show hosted on Guidicelli’s Facebook page on the same day.

Guidicelli partnered with Cipriano’s record label, OC Records, Landers supermarket and the Philippine Army for the effort.

The Callalily frontman kicked off the show with the band’s 2018 song “Ex”. Throughout the event, Guidicelli also included a link where those interested to help could course their monetary donations.

Other artists such as Gian Magdangal, Jed Madela, Jason Dy and Janine Teñoso also lent their voices to the effort. When it was Teñoso’s turn to sing, Sarah Geronimo surprised fans by joining her for a duet performance of the 2013 song “Oceans” by worship group Hillsong.

In between the singing, other celebrities including Judy Ann Santos, Jericho Rosales and Nico Bolzico joined to express their thoughts on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. They also took the time to thank the health workers braving the crisis and encouraged people to stay indoors.

As the event ended its five-hour run, Guidicelli and Cipriano revealed that they were able to raise over P4 million. While the online show had already concluded, the page for the donations remained open and has since amassed over P4.68 million, as of this writing.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, as of today, has reached 396. The Department of Health stated that among those patients, 18 have already recovered from the disease while 33 have died. JB
