Regal Entertainment donated P1 million for COVID-19 initiatives amid the spread of the disease in the Philippines.
The film studio, founded by Lily Monteverde, coursed the amount through TV network ABS-CBN, as per its Twitter post last Saturday, March 21.
“It is in our extreme consciousness to be able to help our fellow Filipinos in this time of crisis,” the production unit stated. “Let’s all [feel] love for each other and positivity to overcome this crisis.”

The renowned studio has produced various popular film and TV projects in the Philippine entertainment industry for decades, including hit movie franchises such as “Mano Po” and “Shake, Rattle & Roll”. It is also known to have developed some of the industry’s biggest stars, referred to in the 1980s as Regal Babies, which included actors Gabby Concepcion, Maricel Soriano and Manilyn Reyes.
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN held a three-hour online concert yesterday to raise funds for families affected by the enhanced community quarantine. Artists such as Regine Velasquez, Angel Locsin and Julia Montes joined the effort.
A total of 380 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported by the Department of Health, as of yesterday. Out of those patients, 15 have already recovered from the said disease while 25 have died. JB
