Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid has offered his voice once again to try to inspire people and remind them of God amid the dire situation the COVID-19 pandemic has put the world into.
Alcasid performed his song “‘Di Ka Pababayaan” via Instagram yesterday, March 19, to send his message of support to all Filipinos.
“Isang awitin para sa inyo na sana ay makapag paala[la] sa atin na tayo ay di pababayaan ng Panginoon (A song for you guys that I hope will remind us that the Lord will not abandon us). God bless us all,” the singer said.
(I hope you are all doing fine in your own homes. If not, I hope you stay steadfast; to those who are sick in hospitals, and of course to the brave men and women in the frontline, we pray that you will remain dedicated and be guided by our Lord.)
“I just wanted to sing again for you, if you don’t mind. Sinulat ko po itong awitin na ito three years ago at sana ay maka-inspire po ito sa inyo (I wrote this song three years ago and I hope this will inspire you),” he added.
Just the day before, Alcasid and his wife, Regine Velasquez, performed “The Lord Is Our Savior“, which they dedicated to their fans “during these very difficult times.”
The singer’s performance, which he dedicated to all his affected countrymen, comes just as the whole of Luzon is in an enhanced community quarantine as imposed by the President to combat the pandemic.
There are 217 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, while 17 deaths have been recorded as of yesterday, March 19. Eight people have recovered. /ra
