If celebrities are affected by the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, what more the majority of regular workers?

“They can’t afford to lose their jobs. What will happen to their livelihood? Of course, if you don’t work, you don’t get to earn anything.” Lotlot de Leon told reporters, a day prior to the initial announcement that a community quarantine would be implemented in Metro Manila. (The entire Luzon is now under enhanced community quarantine.)

“I hope they can be given assistance to make up for the time they couldn’t get to work,” she said.

Lotlot, who has recently acted in the films “Isa Pa with Feelings,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “Almost a Love Story,” “Dagsin” and “1st Sem,” also hopes that due attention is given to the homeless, especially street children. “Maraming kawawa. I hope we can give them shelter and protect them because they don’t have the capability to seek treatment,” the seasoned actress pointed out.

“We focus on the kids. There’s nothing I know that he doesn’t, and there’s nothing he knows that I don’t about our kids. That’s a given,” said Lotlot, who’s now married to Lebanese businessman Fadi El Soury.

“If there’s any concern, there’s immediate communication.”—ALLAN POLICARPIO
