During a global crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic, comedian Vice Ganda thinks that compassion should prevail and should be for everyone despite differences in social standing and approaches about solving the problem.
The TV host appealed to the public to stop fighting. Vice gave his two cents on the matter via his Twitter page yesterday, March 18, through a series of posts.
“Wag tayong mag away away,” he declared. “Lalong lalo na sa panahong ito. Di makakatulong.”
(Let’s stop fighting, especially during this time. It’s not helpful.)
The comedian also addressed how the public has been communicating with each other while the country is under a state of calamity.
“Wag tayong magsalita na parang tayo lang ang tama, ang matalino at magaling,” Vice said. “Wag tayong umasta na parang tayo lang ang may pagmamahal at malasakit sa kapwa, sa bayan at sa mundo.”
(Let us not talk like we are the only ones who are right, smart and great. Let us not act like we are the only ones who love and care for people, the country and the world.)

Some celebrities and influencers have been called out by the public recently for their opinions about the quarantine, which were deemed “out of touch” and “privileged.”
Instead of being divided because of differences in opinions and approaches, Vice highlighted on his post that everyone should unite towards a common goal — overcoming the virus.
The comedian also reiterated that compassion should be given to everyone, not just to those in the lower classes of society.
“Hindi lang sa mga ‘walang makakain’ tayo dapat may compassion. Dapat sa lahat. OO SA LAHAT,” Vice stressed. “Pati sa mga pinaparatangan nating walang compassion.”
Hindi lang sa mga ‘walang makakain’ tayo dapat may compassion. Dapat sa lahat. OO SA LAHAT. Pati sa mga pinaparatangan nating walang compassion. Pahabain natin ang pang unawa sa isat isa. The more na nagagalit tyo mas humihina ang ating immune system. CALMNESS IS STRENGTH. (3)

([We should] not show compassion only to those who have nothing to eat. It should be for everyone — yes everyone — even for those who we accuse of having no compassion.)
The comedian then pointed out that people should widen their understanding of one another, as their rage might cause their immune systems to fail. He said, “CALMNESS IS STRENGTH.”

Lastly, Vice called for a ceasefire on the debates due to the pandemic.
“CEASEFIRE muna tayo sa patalinuhan at pabobohan. Kahit mawala ang virus kung magpapatayan naman tayo e wala ring makakasurvive,” he said.

(Let us have a ceasefire from saying who is smarter and dumber. Even if the virus disappears, if we all try to kill each other, no one will survive.) JB
