As the world scrambles to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, actress-singer Gabbi Garcia is trying to help out by encouraging her fans and followers to unite in prayer and turn to God. She covered a Hillsong United song to send her message.
The young artist, with her sister Alex on guitar, performed “Good Grace” and shared it with fans via Instagram last Monday, March 16.
“When I first heard this song, I instantly fell in love with it. Here’s a little reminder that despite of everything, God is always present and He will forever love us,” Garcia stressed.
“Let us all unite in prayer in this time of crisis. Let us pray for our [frontliners], our country and for the whole world,” she added.
Garcia’s rendition of the song came the same day President Rodrigo Duterte announced the imposition of an “enhanced community quarantine” over the entirety of Luzon, as the country tries to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Under the said quarantine, “strict home quarantine shall be implemented in all households; transportation shall be suspended; provision for food and essential services shall be regulated; and heightened presence of uniformed personnel to enforce quarantine procedures will be implemented,” as per Malacañang.
A total of 187 recorded COVID-19 cases in the Philippines has been confirmed while 14 people have died, as of yesterday, March 17. Globally, 179,112 people are infected while 7,426 lives have been claimed by the disease, which currently posts a mortality rate of 4.15%. JB
