Neri Naig donated boxes of bread and coffee sachets to the healthcare workers in a hospital in Tagaytay amid the spread of COVID-19 in the Philippines.

“800 rolls of spanish bread and 800 coffee sachets para sa lahat ng mga bayani natin sa (for all of our heroes at) Tagaytay Medical Center,” she said on her Instagram page last Sunday, March 15.

She accompanied her post with a photo of her son with husband Chito Miranda, Miggy, posing on top of the boxes of the donations.

“Gusto lang namin talaga na iparamdam sa kanila kung gaano namin naa-appreciate yung ginagawa nila at sana sa ganitong paraan ay mapangiti namin sila [in spite] ng nararamdaman nilang pagod, puyat, at pangamba,” Naig explained.

(We just really want to let them feel how much we appreciate what they are doing, and we hope that through this gesture, we can make them smile [in spite of] the fatigue, lack of sleep and dread they are feeling.)

“Maraming maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nagtatrabaho sa lahat ng ospital lalo na po sa mga panahon na eto,” she added. “Bayani po talaga kayo.”

(Many, many thanks to all of those who are working in all of the hospitals especially during times like these. You really are heroes.)

Miranda also shared his wife’s generous act on his own page, expressing how proud he is of Naig.

Meanwhile, other celebrities such as Sylvia Sanchez shared a call for donations for those working at the Philippine General Hospital. The announcements she reposted said the medical staffs there were in need of 70% ethyl alcohol and personal protective equipment such as face masks and surgical gowns.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, as of this writing, has reached 142. The Department of Health also stated yesterday that out of those cases, three patients have already recovered from the disease.  /ra
