Bianca Manalo appealed to the public to stop hoarding amid the increasing confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, stressing that others may be left with fewer choices.

“PLEASE PLEASE do not hoard,” the actress said in her Instagram post last Tuesday, March 10.

“Pity our fellow Filipinos who live on their daily wages, who can only afford to buy what they need when they receive their daily or weekly salaries,” she added. “When they go to buy their needs, the shelves will be empty.”

“I hate to say it but it’s the upper class that will cause the shortage, and could cause price increases,” Manalo pointed out.

She noted that hoarding will leave the pantries in exclusive villages full, while the “poorer man” will be left with little choices.

Meanwhile, radio jock Czarina Balba (DJ Cha Cha) slammed those who hoard alcohol and soap. She said that the virus will only get worse if one is too selfish and does not think about others’ well-being.

Malacañang also warned the public earlier today, March 12, that those hoarding basic and key commodities amid the ongoing outbreak would be arrested.

The Department of Health, as of this writing, stated that there are 49 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country. The said disease is caused by the novel coronavirus, which first emerged in Wuhan, China.  /ra
