Folk singer-songwriter Bullet Dumas is blaming his and fellow Filipinos’ carelessness for letting “pro-Marcos propaganda” spread to misinform the public.

Dumas, a staunch critic of the administration, was one of the artists who participated in the mass protest against the burial of the dictator at the Libingan ng mga Bayani back in 2016.

The singer’s tweets came after the celebration of the 34th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution that saw the downfall of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos and his dictatorship.

He noted that it is the duty of those who know the truth behind the era of the late strongman to shed some light for others as well.

(Back then, whenever we see pro-Marcos propaganda on social media, we just laugh at how absurd they are because we know that they are false. But we just let them be, and it turned out that a lot of people actually believed them. We are now in this situation because of our carelessness.)

In the following tweet, Dumas urged Filipinos to help each other fix the current situation, where the Marcoses’ alleged crimes are denied even by President Rodrigo Duterte himself, despite former first lady Imelda Marcos’s conviction for plunder.

We are the ones who understand the situation so it is up to us to try to understand others),” he stressed.

Walang susuko, friends,” the singer added.

(These repetitive words of encouragement may be tiring, but sometimes we do have to remind each other that we are the only ones who can fix this. Do not give up, friends.) NVG
